The Shanay Timpishka Ecolodge is the only lodge situated at the shore of the hot river. The 120 hectares of the land of the family Impicciatori has a private sector to the boiling river for the guests. Sleep in a simple accommodation surrounded by the Amazonian rainforest.
Higher up the river, the water is boiling. But here at the ecolodge the temperature of the river is just about right to go to swim. Relax in the swimming pool built into the steaming river, surrounded by the forest.
A forest with many old trees to explore
Discover many very old trees, of which many are widely known as master trees such as Shihuahuaco, Lupuna Colorado, Tawari and many more. Around the bungalows you find many medicinal plants in the botanical garden.
Ideal for pre- or post-dieta
Enjoy the lush green environment with a breathtaking Amazonian sound scape. It is a perfect space for your pre-dieta preparation or post-dieta landing.
The lodge provides simple accommodation and it is situated around 2.5 hours from Pucallpa and can be easily accessed.
The boiling river of Shanay Timpishka: a place of tremendous spiritual power
The River is around 6.4 kilometer long and is considered the longest and the hottest river in the world. The water temperature varies from 50 to 100 degree Celsius. It is a confluent of the Pachitea river in the region Huánuco, Honoria.
In Quechua Shanay Timpishka mean “boiled by the sun”. However, until its day, it is not clear what causes the water to boil.
The Ashanika called this river “Mayantuyacu” and it was a land with medicinal plants and the holy river.
Shamans came here for their rituals and to communicate with the spirits.

Your package for your Rainforest adventure
As a family run ecolodge we are committed to be as sustainable and careful with our environment as possible. We work here with a compost toilet and the lodge is run with hydro power and solar energy.
We have limited WiFi with two daily time windows of around 60 to 90 minutes in total of internet for our guests. For more internet use, we need to charge you a small fee. If you stay 7 nights or more, you can access the Internet additionally approximately 2 hours per day during the day. Please be aware, that during rain there might be no connection.
Smart phones and tablets can be charged with our solar energy. For charging your Laptop, we have a generator, for which you are asked to pay for the fuel.
Boots are provided by the lodge.
Water and other drinks can be purchased on the lodge. If you bring a water filter, you can drink the water of the river.
Simple vegetarian food is included in the price.

(up to 20 persons, shared hygienic facilities): 150 Soles pp.
We provide you mattress, blankets and a tent that you set up in the Maloca.
For stays of 10 nights or more, we can negociate a reduction.
Outdoor Rainforest Camping

Simple vegetarian Peruvian Food is included
You will be served 3 meals a day (depending on your arrival and departure). The food is simple but delicious and included in the price.
We offer vegetarian and vegan options and can provide you post-dieta and pre-dieta dishes. Please communicate your preferences ahead of time.
To purchase the food in Pucallpa, we rely on reservation 3 days prior to your arrival. Reservations on short terms are possible, the food will be just a little bit more simple (but still delicious).
Retreats, Ceremonies and Dietas
Ceremonies with Ashaninka Maestro Fidel
Fidel was taught by his grandfather since the age of 18 and works with master plants for over 12 years. He is our resident Curandero of trust and offers ceremonies and dietas here at Shanay Timpishka. If you wish to sit with Fidel and experience one or more ceremonies of the Ashaninka tradition, contact us with anticipation.
If Fidel is unavailable, we also collaborate with Maestros from both the Shipibo and Mestizo lineages.
For organizers of retreats
It is possible to book the Maloca and the entire Ecolodge Shanay Timpishka, if you wish to organize a dieta or a retreat for your group at the boiling river Mayantuyacu. You can either work with our resident Curandero Fidel or bring your own Maestro. Please contact us in advance for your inquiry.
We have a capacity of total 13 people for retreats and dietas.

The temperature of the river is just about right have a toe in the water. For a more relaxed bathing experience, you can enjoy the swimming pool with thermal warm water that is healthy for your joints.
Relax at the shore
Plenty of tables and hammocks are there for you, to relax and to enjoy the environment of the Amazonian rainforest.
Hiking Trails
There are several hiking trails that guide you safely through the forest.
Master Tree Walk: (2.2 Km) A circuit through the forest full of old trees.
Primary Rainforest Trail: (2.5 Km) explore a protected area with pristine rainforest.
Sunset Viewpoint Trail: (3.4 km) Miraculous view of the sunset in the rainforest.

Horse ride along the river (minimum 2 person, 50 Soles per Person)
We show you how you can mount a horse and we will lead you along the shores (30 minutes).
How to get here
Only 3 – 4 hours from Pucallpa!
We organize the transportation for you.
We provide a car service for up to four guests. Pick-up from your hotel is 150 Soles, and from the airport, it’s 200 Soles. The car will take you from Pucallpa to Honoria. Once in Honoria, a boat awaits to transport you across the river for 25 Soles per person. Finally, depending on the water level, you may need to walk for 10 to 20 minutes to reach the ecolodge.
The journey can take 3 to 4 hours, depending on the river level and road conditions.
Feeling adventurous?
For a more budget-friendly option, you can arrange your own transport. Cars depart from Terminal 6 at the Terminal Terrestre, near the Mercado Mayorista, costing 25 Soles per person. Departure is when the car is full (4 people). To book the entire car for yourself, the cost is 100 Soles. Upon arriving in Honoria, we can pick you up, or you can choose to hire a boat independently.
Meet your host family
The Impicciatori Family is the guardian of the land. For us it is very important, to leave the forest as untouched as possible that many generations after us can get in awe with the tall trees that are still remaining.
